Beauty Without Guilt: How To Create A Sustainable Beauty Closet

Beauty Without Guilt: How To Create A Sustainable Beauty Closet

The idea of creating a sustainable beauty room is a concept that has been both an appealing idea and a scary one in the past.

Beauty content on social media has led to an explosion of products-innovation-wise and to stay in the news. Thus, the pace of new launches has increased more quickly than ever before, and keeping track of it can be just as difficult for those who work in the field as for someone who is outside. I’m a person who truly loves observing the latest trends in the marketplace and making an effort to keep track of popular products, packaging designs, and trends, as well as things that need to be de-influenced’ (a popular term where creators of content inform their audience the items they would not purchase which is something I am looking forward to writing and consuming much more).

My journey is just beginning in terms of minimalism, but I’ve uncovered several key ways that I could work towards this over the next couple of months.

Evaluate and Minimise

The first step to building an eco-friendly beauty space is to assess and reduce the amount of our current collection of cosmetics. Begin by cleaning out your closet and looking over every item, asking yourself important questions. Does this product have no animal cruelty? Are there harmful chemicals in it? What is the environmental impact of the packaging? Only keep the items that are in line with your sustainability goals, and then dispose of all the rest with a sense of responsibility. This is a means of buying less and spending more focus, using quality over quantity, and making sure you keep only the very best of the best.

Research Sustainable Brands

The next step is to look for natural, sustainable beauty brands. Follow the appropriate Instagram influencers on social, check out informative pieces, and join blogs. Be sure to look for companies that are committed to ethically sourced ingredients, using safe ingredients, and utilizing environmentally-friendly packaging. Look for brands that are companies that are certified as cruelty-free, and steer clear of companies that test on animals or make use of animal-derived ingredients.

Choose Multi-purpose Products

Reduce the amount of waste you produce by incorporating multi-purpose products in your beauty cabinet. Choose items that can have multiple uses instead of having separate entities to meet every requirement. For example, your blush can serve as an eyeshadow or even be used to create a blush. There are a variety of ways to apply minimal makeup or glam products to get the desired result.

Be Mindful About Your Consumption

Avoid buying on impulse and be mindful of your consumption. Before you purchase a new beauty product, consider whether you really want it. Make sure you are selective when buying products and ensure that each product you have in your beauty cabinet is well-loved and utilized.

Leaving The Cart Full But Not Checking Out

Keep an eye on new releases, and the desire to replenish your top holy grails is a tempting idea. As much as I love looking for new items, which I then add to my cart, I am constantly checking my purchases on impulse by leaving their carts for some time before completing the checkout. (Apart from the impact on the environment, my wallet is also happy as well!)

I hope this can help those who read this in any way. If you’re not yet on the path towards a more minimalist lifestyle, Please know that you’re not alone. (and many others like us!) We are still striving to achieve this goal.
