How To Make Natural Homemade Deodorant

Deodorant from the market today. Not only are the ingredients questionable, and some are quite toxic, ALUMINUM is a base ingredient in most of the deodorants or antiperspirants on the market. The twos diseases that stick in my mind are ALZHEIMER’S and CANCER. No thanks!! I want no part in that! If you cook in aluminum pots and pans, get rid of them! If you use baking soda (or even baking powder) for cooking or beauty recipes, make sure to get ALUMINUM-FREE. Aluminum is also in makeup and all kinds of things. Read the ingredients carefully on everything you buy. Sometimes I use aluminum free baking soda by itself for deodorant. Other times I go without anything at all. I just brush some on after taking a shower while my underarms are still damp and it works all day for me. It leaves no stains and I don’t have to wait for it to dry. Now let’s make an all natural deodorant that is non toxic.

Homemade Deodorant

Dry deodorant:

Mix cornstarch and baking soda (aluminum free) with a few drops of essential oil (preferably organic). Try lavender, peppermint, eucalyptus, and patchouli, cinnamon and clove essential oils.

Wet deodorant:

Mix alcohol free witch hazel (I use Thayers) and glycerin (health food store-preferably vegetable glycerin), combined with essential oil of choice (preferably organic). Again, you can try lavender, peppermint, eucalyptus, and patchouli, cinnamon and clove essential oils. Blend pure essential oils (a few drops) with a base oil such as olive oil or jojoba oil (Trader Joe’s has the best price for Jojoba oil) to rub on the skin. Do not use the essential oils directly on the skin without a carrier oil. To make sure you don’t have a sensitivity to the essential oils, always put a drop on the inside of your arm to test it first.

Deodorant Powder:

1/4 cup cornstarch
1/3 cup baking soda (aluminum-free-health food store)
3/4 cup pulverized lavender flowers
15 drops lavender essential oil

Mix lavender oil with pulverized lavender flowers. Mix with the other ingredients and allow it to sit in an airtight glass container away from any light for a day or two. To use, lightly dust the underarms using a shaving brush or blush brush and/or apply to any other area of your body you wish to feel fresh.

Natural Spray Deodorant using Tea Tree Oil:

Pour two ounces distilled water (grocery store)

4 drops of tea tree oil (Trader Joes-prices are cheapest there)

Mix together, shake up and spray wherever necessary for a natural deodorant that can even double up as a mosquito repellent.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING ANY ROCK CRYSTAL under your arms! It has the ingredient ALUM in it. What exactly this ingredient is, I don’t know at the moment, but it could be an aluminum type of ingredient that you do NOT want touching your skin. Because the skin absorbs everything you put on it, you are absorbing this very toxic substance which causes Alzheimer’s disease.

Side noteI purchased my aluminum free baking soda from my local health foods market.

If you live in the Claremont/Upland area of California, Sprouts Market has Bob’s Red Mill Aluminum Free Baking Soda. I got mine for less than $2 because it was on sale (1 lb bag). I will only use this soda for personal body use. I buy the regular Arm and Hammer Baking Soda for household use because it is cheaper than Bob’s Red Mill for cleaning purposes.
