Many people talk about the worst season for hair and skin. This is a myth. Each season brings its own challenges, which can pose new threats to your hair and skin. Winters are known to increase hair dandruff production, while summers can increase sebum secretion. Monsoons can also cause hair problems. When it rains, flat hair, greasiness, and bacterial infections can all be a problem. It is important to change your hair care routine to avoid these problems. We had the opportunity to meet Wade Blackford, a global hair stylist and hair expert from Kevin Murphy, at the launch of the brand at Jean Claude Biguine Salons in India. Wade’s expert advice will ensure that your hair is healthy and strong in the months ahead.
Why is monsoon considered a bad season for hair?
It’s the humidity. Particularly when it comes to hair care, one wrong decision can make your life miserable. Before you buy hair products, it is important to get good advice from hairdressers. This is especially true if you are choosing products that will withstand the monsoon humidity. Kevin Murphy’s smoothing range works well in humid conditions because it has biometric keratin. Make sure you make the right decision at the right time.
This season, flat and greasy hair is the most common concern. Would you like to share some tips with our readers?
People make the common mistake of rushing to wash their hair as soon as they notice oily hair. This causes oil to be released from the scalp, which can cause further irritation. Your scalp is telling your brain to release oil and soothe irritation. Use gentle pressure to massage the shampoo into your scalp, then rinse off thoroughly. You can also massage your scalp about 30 minutes before you take your hair out. This will help to remove oil from the outer layer and makes it easier to clean it. Clarifying hair care products are also available.
Monsoons are not only beautiful for the look, but they also pose a problem with your hair and scalp. What are your concerns/risks? How can we avoid them?
Kevin Murphy is different. We give scalp beauty and scalp health top priority; our products are like a haircare routine. Scalp Spa doesn’t directly target oiliness or dryness; it works to balance the scalp’s overall health. A healthy scalp should not be too oily or too dry. Instead of focusing on specific products, invest in your scalp’s overall health.
Although I don’t feel like washing my hair every day, many people recommend it. How do you feel about that? Are there any checks for someone who does wash their hair every day?
You can wash your hair every day, and that’s fine by me. There is one catch: you have to be cautious about the products you use. It’s not a good idea to use something too harsh on your hair. Our Balancing Wash is for daily use. You can also invest in a co-wash, which is basically a cream cleanser that softens your hair and gently cleans your scalp. A co-wash (a shampoo for hair) is a great option.
Do you need to make any changes in your hair-washing routine for monsoons
It is important to find the best formula and frequency for you. Some people can keep the same hair care routine throughout the year, while others may need to change it during the season. It’s very personal.
You are an excellent hairstylist. You can also suggest practical hairstyles for second and third-day hair.
You can’t go wrong either with the ponytail or messy bun. Braids are a great option because you can get curly, wavy hair the next day.
