GFC names six emerging designers showing at Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo

Global Fashion Collective (GFC) has revealed six new designers who will be part of an event on the runway during the forthcoming Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo.
On August 30, the group will hold an event in Omotesando, Shibuya, where each designer will showcase their collections at a showcase that viewers can view in person or via live streaming on GFC’s social media and website.
The other participants include Belgian designer Maxime Edward, who takes custom orders through his Brussels-based studio. There is also Emel, the creator of Alca, a French-based label that has previously participated in the fashion week in Vancouver and Paris.
Jusma, introduced in Tokyo, will bring its vision that focuses on “armored brilliance” to the occasion, along with French-Cameroonian designer Aline Arnous who incorporates her country’s rich heritage into her collections, blending African with European influences.
A collection of 7 designers at the School of Design, part of Mexico’s Centro de Estudios Superiores de Diseno de Monterrey, will present their collections in a tribute to their history.
Another name in the list includes the illustrator Karen Moriyama, who recently changed her focus on fashion with dyed and drawn fabrics according to traditional Japanese artworks.
Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo is scheduled from August 28 to September 2, with Nigo’s founded BAPE as the host.
