In their role as Victoria’s Secret models, it’s part of the job description of Karlie Kloss and Candice Swanepoel to wear hardly-there outfits on extremely unforgiving high-definition television.
While the “angels” did hit the genetic jackpot, they confess that they use a lot of grounded strategies to remain energized and appear well despite exhausting press tours, runway shows, and photography shoots. For instance, at a recent event celebrating Valentine’s Day, the bombshells revealed the secret to being camera-ready to Everyday Health even when you’re not feeling it.
To keep you energetic: “For runway shows especially, you have to have extra energy because you’re running around so much so I think it’s a matter of having a healthy snack on-the-go,” says Kloss. For a bit of fitness, The sexiest date of the year comes around (aka”the” Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show); Swanepoel says that all the models hit the gym as if it’s their work. “We all start to work out like maniacs,” she claims. If she feels guilty for not doing one or two sessions, she’ll squeeze in a workout when she can. “I’m definitely guilty of watching TV and doing some squats,” she says.
For flawless skin all day long: “I like to carry around rose water because sometimes if you have powder on it helps to just bring your skin back to life,” says Swanepoel. She also keeps a pencil and eyebrow comb in her purse to help groom her eyebrows during the day.
Kloss is more focused on taking her makeup off for beautiful skin. “I carry high-quality makeup remover wipes such as Bioderma along with me everywhere. It’s the removal of makeup that’s the most important thing,” she says.
For an improved night’s sleep: “Whenever I’m jetlagged or in Europe, I always use liquid melatonin, which is basically a natural sleep aid that works like a charm,” Kloss says. Kloss.
To feel confident during Valentine’s Day (and every day! ): supermodels’ advice fantastic model. “Fake it,” says Swanepoel. “Do something that makes you feel feminine and good in your own skin.” She suggests wearing your most sexual fragrance, like Very Sexy from Victoria’s Secret, getting your nails done, or having an exfoliation.
Kloss says that a hint of femininity could be hidden in your outfit, even if it’s the most attractive outfit. “A sexy, lace number changes the way you hold yourself,” she explains. “Even when it’s a turtleneck it affects how you feel. I would recommend sexy lingerie every holiday!”
